Raceday Style

There is no official dress code at The Curragh Racecourse, or any Irish Racecourse. We believe that the more relaxed and comfortable you feel, the more likely you are to have a great time. We encourage our racegoers to come “dressed to feel your best”. Smart casual is usually a safe bet.

Dress to impress

Dress with the weather in mind, it can be quite breezy at the track as it is open to the elements. Ladies, we recommend jumpsuits, dresses with heavier material / longer in length, due to the wind factor! And, while we always hope for sunshine, you may need raincoats/warm clothes.

Style tips from past judges

“You tend to look your best when you are comfortable and confident in your outfit. So, when choosing an outfit, these are the things to bear in mind. It’s not about “trend or spend”, it’s about looking in the mirror knowing you have created your own individual style, and that’s what you wear to the races.”

What tips do you have for combining elegant footwear with Race Day wearability?

“Always, always prioritise comfort. You stand all day and have to traverse grass the odd time too! I love a block heel or flat for this reason. The last year has taught us indirectly how we love to feel relaxed in our clothes, so flat sandals and ballerina pumps are making a comeback for summer. But if you like to add some height then look out for a thicker heel. This will guarantee some stability and comfort all day.”
