Almost €600,000 has been raised since the Newbridge Parishes Community Raceday was launched 36 years ago, with funds distributed directly to community-based projects in St Conleth’s and Church of Ireland Parishes.

This year’s raceday will celebrate our local sporting heroes, with a variety of free family entertainment throughout the afternoon in the Moyglare Kids Zone, performances from local stage schools in Champions Hall and exhibition games by children from various local sports clubs taking place on the racetrack between races.  A photographic competition for all local primary schools is also being launched, themed ‘What my community means to me’, with some great prizes to be won.

Newbridge Parish Priest Fr Ruairí O’Domhnaill, commented: “This is a very special day for our Parishes which raises much needed funds for various projects within our community. We would like to thank the Curragh for their continued support and we hope that everyone will join us on Bank Holiday Monday May 5 for what promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable day with lots of entertainment for all the family.”

Church of Ireland Reverend Isobel Jackson commented: “We are delighted that The Curragh continues to generously host the annual Newbridge Parishes Raceday which makes a significant contribution to the Church.  It gives us the opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate and support each other.”

The Coolmore Stud Mooresbridge Stakes (Group 2) is the feature race of an eight-race card, while there are races supported by Keadeen Hotel, PG Duffy & Sons Citroen and The Treacy Group.  Gates open at 12noon, with the first race at 1.15pm.
