Some of the highest rated racehorses in training from across Europe are set to converge on the Curragh for the Tattersalls Gold Cup, with this year’s entries underlining the race’s reputation as one of the premier middle-distance contests in the world.   First entries for the €500,000 contest, which takes place on Sunday 24th May, were published this afternoon.

A truly international list of entries was published today including many multiple Group 1 and Classic winners trained in Ireland, Britain, and France. The depth and quality on show reflect the global standing of the Group 1 race, which was rated as the joint 10th best race in the world last year.

France is strongly represented including five entries by leading trainer Francis-Henri Graffard, most notably Calandagan, the world’s highest rated horse of 2025, and Prix de L’ Arc De Triomphe winner Daryz, while Christophe Ferland’s Aventure, winner of the Group 1 Prix Vermeille, also features.

From Britain, the powerful Gosden operation relies on multiple Group 1 winner Ombudsman and Devil’s Advocate, while Andrew Balding has entered Almeric and Curragh regular Kalpana , Ralph Beckett  has entered Saddadd, while Almaqam and Fast Tracker trained by Ed Walker, Bay City Roller trained by George Scott, the George Boughey trained Survie and the Karl Burke trained trio of Royal Rhyme, King Of Cities and  Convergent, also feature amongst the thirty eight entries.

The home trained team looks particularly strong with The Lion in Winter, Lambourn, Jan Brueghal and Minnie Hauk amongst the entries for champion trainer Aidan O’Brien, while Joseph O’Brien adds further strength to the Irish challenge with Al Riffa , Alcantor , and Wemightakedlongway. Other Irish trained entries include the Dermot Weld trained Purview and Tarima, the Ger Lyons trained Faiyum and Red Letter, Green Impact trained by Jessica Harrington, Carmers trained by Paddy Twomey and the Joseph Murphy trained Cercene.

With multiple Group winners, Classic performers, and international stars among the entries, this year’s Tattersalls Gold Cup promises to be a race to savour, a true showcase for some of the best horses in the world.
