20 runners to line up in Nua Healthcare Irish Lincolnshire at The Curragh

Raadobarg will carry top weight in the Nua Healthcare Irish Lincolnshire, the feature of St Patrick’s Festival Race Day, day 1 of the Irish Flat racing season, taking place at The Curragh this Bank Holiday Monday.

Trainer now in Britain by George Boughey, he landed the competitive €100,000 contest in 2022 when previously with Johnny Murtagh. Other notable contenders include Rahmi, Lan Cinnte, Smooth Tom, Casanova and Snapraeterea.

2023 Lester Piggott Gladness Stakes winner Goldana is one of eleven runners in the Group 3 Lodge Park Stud Park Express Stakes with other notable contenders featuring Cadeau Belle, Sli Na Ghealai, Magical Sunset and Brilliant.

Eleven two year olds will go to post in the opening race of the season, The Castle Star and Alkumait at Capital Stud EBF Maiden, with trainer Adrian Murray hoping to win the race for the second successive year with a strong team of three runners, having won in 2023 with subsequent Group 1 winner Bucanero Fuerte.

There are thirteen runners in the La Celia Wines Handicap over 5 furlongs including Curragh specialists Big Gossey, Laugh A Minute, Verhoyen and Gustavus Weston. Seventeen runners feature in the Bermingham Camera of Dublin Maiden for colts, while there are nineteen set to line up in the Finlay Volvo Maiden.  Twenty-three runners go to post in the QuinnBet Handicap headed by Clear Quartz and twenty one in the Cavalor Equine Nutrition Handicap.

Off track on the racecourse all the category winners that took part in the grand St Patrick’s Day parade in Newbridge on the previous day will receive their prizes. Also happening on raceday will be a variety of free family friendly entertainment throughout the day including live music from the Newbridge Gospel Choir and local trad musicians the Ramblin Rovers, together with performances from local dance groups, while the Moyglare Kids Zone will feature with free activities for younger race goers with Face painting and Imagination Station Sallins. There will also be an appearance from Patches the Friendly Leprechaun mascot
