John O'Donoghue

John O'Donoghue hails from Mallow, Co. Cork and began his career in horse racing in the national hunt sphere working for local trainer TJ Nagle at weekends and during the school holidays. In his teens, his aspirations to become a trainer intensified and so did his love of flat racing. He then spent time working for trainers John Oxx and Jamie Osborne before making a permanent move to the UK upon finishing his Law degree at UCC. He spent two seasons as head lad for David O’Meara before joining Roger Varian as Assistant Trainer for the last four seasons.

John and his wife Jodi have now taken over the famous Currabeg Stables from John Oxx and John plans to have his first runners over the winter season of 2021.
