Denis Coakley
Having previously ridden for a period as an Amateur Jockey while managing a Medical Device company remained the “day job”, Denis took out a licence to train in 2017. He had previously trained a few horses to compete in Horse and Pony Racing when his son Ross was younger and having won many of the big races together on that circuit this was a natural progression. Denis runs a very small family operation with no more than two horses in training at any time, but together with Ross he has enjoyed success, particularly in Dundalk where he had nine winners from his first thirty runners. Thankfully he has turned out to be a better trainer than he was a jockey!
