Top class line up for Kilboy Estate Stakes at The Curragh this Sunday
Angel Power, Create Belief and Insinuendo are among the 8 runners
Runners for Day 2 of Juddmonte Irish Oaks Weekend taking place at The Curragh were published this morning with the featured Kilboy Estate Stakes attracting a small, but high-quality field of 8, who will line up in the Group 2 contest.
The Roger Varian trained Angel Power is the sole British trained challenger and this daughter of Loup De Vega who carries the colours of King Power Racing is having her first run of 2021 following three consecutive victories last year.
Impressive Royal Ascot winner Create Belief represents trainer Johnny Murtagh, while Jessica Harrington has both Astadash and Oodnadatta in the line up. Insinuendo will represent Willie McCreery, having finished fourth in the Group 1 Alwasmiyah Pretty Polly Stakes on her last start. Other contenders are Martinique trained by Aidan O’Brien, April Showers trained by his son Donnacha and Lovely Esteem trained by Joseph O’Brien.
Breeders Cup Mile winner Order of Australia is one of 8 runners in the Romanised Minstrel Stakes with trainer Aidan O’Brien also represented by Military Style. Other notable runners in the valuable Group 2 contest include Current Option, Njord, Ace Aussie and Thunder Beauty.
There are 13 runners in the Cavalor Equine Nutrition Maiden, 7 go to post in the Sycamore Lodge Equine Hospital Nursery, 10 in the opening Irish Stallion Farms two year old Maiden, 9 in the Irish Stallion Farms Fillies Maiden and 7 in the Irish Stallion Farms Fillies Handicap over 1 mile, while a competitive 15 runner field line up in the Finlay Volvo Handicap, which will bring the 8 race programme to a close.
Runners for Saturday were published yesterday with the featured Juddmonte Irish Oaks attracting 8 fillies including Epsom Oaks heroine Snowfall, who will attempt to become the 15th filly to complete the Oaks double following her record breaking 16 lengths success at Epsom. O’Brien will also be represented by Divinely, La Joconde and Willow in the race.
Trainer Donnacha O’Brien will look to win his first Classic as a trainer with Nicest, while his brother Joseph will be represented by Mariesque. Trainer Ger Lyons, who won the race last year with Even So, will look to win the race for a second successive year with Party House, while Fozzy Stack will be represented by Ahandfulofsummers
8 runners will line up in the Paddy Power Sapphire Stakes including the Johnny Murtagh trained Measure of Magic who finished third in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Other notable contenders for the Group 2 contest include Logo Hunter, Romantic Proposal, Gustavus Weston and Make A Challenge.
There are 6 runners in the Jebel Ali Racecourse and Stables Anglesey Stakes including recent Curragh winner Beauty Inspire, together with Hadman, Celtic Times, Daisy Peer, The Entertainer and Andreas Vesalius who are all previous winners.
Speak in Colours heads the 19 declared to run in the Paddy Power Scurry with multiple stakes winner Speak in Colours set to carry top weight of 10 stone. Gulliver is the sole British trained runner
There are 10 runners in the Kildare Village Ladies Derby, won last year by Princess Zoe, while 7 runners go to post in the Dingle Whiskey Nursery Handicap, 12 in the Juddmonte “Expert Eye” EBF Maiden and 5 runners in the Aquaturf Handicap which brings the race day to a close
