Leading 2 year olds target Curragh this Saturday
Some of the leading two year olds in training will line up in the two feature races at The Curagh this Saturday 22nd August, following the declaration of runners this morning.
The Jessica Harrington trained Cadillac, winner of his only start at Leopardstown, is one of 9 runners in the Galileo Futurity Stakes. Aidan O’Brien, who has won the previous four runnings of the Group 2 contest will have 3 runners with Military Style, Ontario and Van Gogh. Snapraeterea, a winner at Roscommon on Tuesday, will represent Joseph O’Brien, while his brother Donnacha has Southern Cape in the race. The Jim Bolger trained Mac Swiney, To Glory trained by Ger Lyons and Trusted Ally trained by Michael O’Callaghan complete the top class field.
Recent Leopardstown Group 3 winner Shale trained by Donnacha O’Brien is one of 8 runners in the A.R.M Holding Debutante Stakes. The daughter of Galileo is set to renew rivalry with Pretty Gorgeous trained by Joseph Brien. Their father Aidan, who has won the race 12 times will be represented by a strong team with Finest, Mother Earth and Snowfall. Meala, a recent winner for Jim Bolger in Galway, together with the Jessica Harrington trained Palifico are other notable contenders, while the Sheila Lavery trained Miramis is set to make her racecourse debut in the Group 2 contest.
Make A Challenge, Romantic Proposal and Speak in Colours are among the 12 runners in the A.R.M Holding Curragh Sprint. Other notable contenders in the valuable Listed race include the Willie McCreery trained pair of Call of the Jungle and Downforce, together with the Johnny Murtagh trained Pronouncement and Southern Horse trained by Jessica Harrington.
