Trials for the upcoming Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival feature as part of a high quality eight race programme at The Curragh this Bank Holiday Monday.
Recent Hollywoodbets Alleged Stakes winner Layfayette steps up to Group 2 contest for the first time when the Noel Meade trained five year will face six runners in the Coolmore Sottsass Mooresbridge Stakes, renewing rivalry with High Definition, Bear Story and Gear Up.
Glounthaune, Dr Zempf, Wexford Native, New Energy and Malex are among the seven runners in the Coolmore Arizona EBF Tetrarch Stakes, while there are nine fillies who will line up in the Coolmore Circus Maximus EBF Athasi Stakes including Prettiest, Mise Le Meas, Lady of Inishfree and Twilight Spinner.
There are five runners in the GAIN First Flier Stakes, the first in the GAIN Champion Collection Series for two year olds, including Blackbeard, Crispy Cat and Ocean Vision, all winners on their debuts.
The race day kicks off with the Irish EBF Maiden at 1.10pm with 19 runners, while other races include the Treacy Group EBF Fillies Handicap with 13 runners, PG Duffy & Sons Citroen Apprentice Handicap with 19 runners and Keadeen Hotel Handicap with a maximum field of 30 runners.
The race day is themed as Newbridge Parishes Community Raceday, a very popular and fun family day. In excess of €550,000 has been raised for projects benefiting the local community since the Newbridge Parishes Raceday was launched 35 years ago, including the development of the Parish Community Centre.
A variety of free family entertainment will be hosted throughout the afternoon with a Kids Zone area packed with free children’s entertainment, performances from local stage schools and a Defence Forces display area. Exhibition games by children from various local sports clubs will also take place between races on the racetrack.
