Go Bears Go set for Curragh return in Keeneland Phoenix Stakes this Sunday
13 horses remain in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes following this morning’s entry stage for the Group 1 contest, which takes place at the Curragh this Sunday 8th August. They include the David Loughnane trained Go Bears Go, who recently landed the GAIN Railway Stakes for owner Amo Racing and will renew rivalry with Castle Star who finished second and Dr Zempf who finished fourth.
The Hugo Palmer trained Ebro River, recent 4th in both the July Stakes and the Richmond Stakes is also among the contenders.
The unbeaten pair of Beauty Inspire trained by Ger Lyons and Velocidad trained by Joseph O’Brien are other notable Irish trained entries, while trainer Aidan O’Brien, who has won the race 16 times, has three potential runners with The Entertainer, Heart to Heart and Prettiest.
The William Haggas trained Light Refrain, who carries the colours of Queen Elizabeth, has been added to the 18 entries for the Rathasker Stud Phoenix Sprint. She is one of five British trained contenders, who also include Summerghand, Garrus, Ventura Diamond, Ventura Rebel and Declaring Love. The home trained challenge for the Group 3 contest is set to be led by Thunder Moon, Romantic Proposal, Gustavus Weston, The Highway Rat and A Case of You.
