First entries for the Tattersalls Gold Cup closed this week and the Group 1 contest has attracted many Classic and Group

First entries for the Tattersalls Gold Cup closed this week and the Group 1 contest has attracted many Classic and Group 1 winners.  

Last year’s winner Helvic Dream and runner up Broome feature amongst the 26 entries for the €400,000 race, which takes place on Day 3 of the Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival on Sunday 22nd May.

Other Group 1 winners include Cox Plate winner State of Rest, Comer Group International Irish St Leger winner Search for a Song, Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas winner MacSwiney, Teona winner of the Prix Vermeille and Mother Earth winner of the 1000 Guineas, together with the Joseph O’Brien trained Gear Up, a Group 1 winner when previously trained by Mark Johnston. 

Alenquer recent winner of the Winter Derby, Dubai Honour runner up in Champion Stakes and Real World, a Group 2 winner at Meydan earlier this year are other significant entries.
