Contenders prepare for Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby with racecourse gallop
Some of the leading contenders for this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby exercised on the famous Curragh race track over the weekend as part of their preparation for the €1 million show piece, which takes place on Saturday 26th June.
Aidan O’Brien was represented by High Definition, who landed the Group 2 Alan Smurfit Memorial Beresford Stakes as a two year old. The son of Galileo looked in very good order as he worked over 10 furlongs with Wayne Lordan in the saddle.
Other Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby entries working on the track included the Joseph O’Brien trained Thunder Moon (Declan McDonagh) and Toshizou (Shane Crosse), while the Luke Comer trained pair of Seattle Creek and Seattle Sound were both put through their paces.
Pat Keogh, Chief Executive of The Curragh, commented,
“The build up to the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby has well and truly started and with the support of Dubai Duty Free, we were delighted to have the opportunity to invite all trainers with entries in the race to use the track over the weekend.”
The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival takes place from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th June with Saturday featuring the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at 3.45pm.
