Barbados, Pondus and Chiricahua  are three of the leading contenders for the Sky Bet Race to the Ebor Handicap, the feature of a competitive programme of racing at The Curragh this Wednesday. 

Other challengers for the €40,000 contest include Shoshone Warrior, Powerful Ted, Camphor, Bold Approach, Lugnaquilla, Shanroe and Travel On.  The winner will receive an automatic entry into the very valuable Sky Bet Ebor Handicap at York taking place in August.

The prestigious Group 3 Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Ballyogan Stakes has attracted a high class field of 15 fillies and mares. The Group 3 contest is one of the highlights of a competitive 8 race programme at the Curragh this Wednesday.

Among the runners are Group 1 placed Sonaiyla trained by Paddy Twomey together with  a number of stakes race performers, who will line up in the €50,000 contest. These include Lustown Baba trained by Willie McCreery, Thunder Beauty trained by Ken Condon, the Aidan O’Brien trained More Beautiful, Teresa Mendoza trained by Jessica Harrington and Romantic Proposal trained the Edward Lynam.

Evan Arkwright, Racing and Sponsorship Manager The Curragh, commented,

The Sky Bet Orby Stakes has attracted 9 runners including older horses Patrick Sarsfield, Bowerman, Bolivar and Agitare, while the three year old crop is represented in the race by O’Reilly, Nicest, Reve De Vol and Lough Derg.

Swiss Ace, Rosie Bassett and Sister Rosetta feature among the 9 runners in the Sky Bet Junefest Handicap.  
 
Impressive Tipperary winner Elliptic is one of the 6 runners in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race, while 11 will line up in the Sky Bet Extra Places Every Day Maiden, 11 in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden and a maximum 30 runners in the Sporting Life Handicap.
