Alwasmiyah Pretty Polly Stakes attracts several Group 1 and Classic winners

Entries for the Alwasmiyah Pretty Polly Stakes were released today by Horse Racing Ireland and the Group 1 contest has attracted some of the best fillies and mares in Europe.

The race is the highlight of Day 3 of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival taking place on Sunday 27th June.

Classic winners Love and Search For A Song feature among the 59 entries, together with a number of other Group 1 winners including Breeders Cup heroine Audarya, Coronation Stakes winner Alpine Star, Shale winner of the Moyglare Stud Stakes and Pretty Gorgeous winner of the Fillies Mile.

Other notable entries include the Roger Varian trained Angel Power who landed the Group 2 Premio Lydia Tesio last year, Musidora Stakes winner Rose of Kildare trained by Mark Johnston, Lowther Stakes winner Miss Amulet and Thunder Beauty both trained by Ken Condon, Amma Grace trained by Dermot Weld, Queen’s Power trained by Sir Michael Stoute and current English 1000 Guineas favourite Santa Barbara trained by Aidan O’Brien.

Traisha, who carries the colours of race sponsor Alwasmiyah Stud, is one of seven entries trained by Joseph O’Brien.

This race is named after the peerless Irish-bred Pretty Polly (1901-1931) who won 22 of her 24 career starts. At one point in her career she won 15 races in succession and in 1904 she became only the fifth filly to win the British Fillies Triple Crown which came into being in 1814.
