19 runners to line up in Goffs Million this Saturday

The Curragh stage a packed programme of racing this weekend featuring the Goffs Million on Saturday and Friends of the Curragh Irish Cesarewitch on Sunday, while the Taste of Kildare will be an exciting addition for racegoers to enjoy over both days.

19 two-year-olds will line up in the Goffs Million, Europe’s richest race for juveniles, following the declaration of runners this morning, including 11 representing British based trainers.

Bossy Parker (Johnny Murtagh), Hellsing (Ger Lyons), Queen of Ours (Willie McCreery) and Hiawatha (Aidan O’Brien) are among the home trained team, while Galeron (Charlie Hills), Frequent Flyer (Andrew Balding), He’s A Monster (Archie Watson), Killybegs Warrior (Mark and Charlie Johnston), Ramazan (Richard Fahey),  Wahaaj (Patrick Owens), New Endeavour (Roger Varian) and Magical Sunset (Richard Hannon) feature among the overseas trained challenge.

The Alan Smurfit Memorial Beresford Stakes also features on Saturday and the Group 2 contest, won by Luxembourg last year, has attracted 7 runners including Continuous and Adelaide River trained by Aidan O’Brien who has won the race an unprecedented 21 times. Other contenders are Crypto Force, Pivotal Trigger, Lakota Seven, Roaring Gallagher and Young Ireland.

Betting partner of the weekend William Hill will sponsor eight races over both days including the valuable William Hill Joe McGrath Premier Handicap on Saturday with 16 going to post for the valuable contest over 5 furlongs including Urban Beat, Laugh A Minute, Gordon Bennett and Master Matt

There are 23 runners in the William Hill Lengthen Your odds Maiden, 10 in the Barberstown Castle Nursery, 25 in the Tipperary Crystal Apprentice Handicap, 23 in the William Hill Pick Your Winners Handicap and 11 in the opening William Hill Free or 4 Irish EBF Maiden at 1.05pm
