107 entries for Friends of The Curragh Irish Cesarewitch

Willie Mullins, Joseph O’Brien, Mark and Charlie Johnson, Gordon Ellliott,  and Paddy Twomey among trainers to target the hugely valuable two mile contest

Entries for the Friends of the Curragh Irish Cesarewitch were published this afternoon with the €600,000 race attracting a total of 107 initial entries. The race over two miles takes place on day 2 of the Curragh Autumn Festival of Racing on Sunday 25th September.

Willie Mullins has made a strong statement of intent to win the race with 14 entries. These include Dark Voyager, Echoes in Rain, Gibraltar, Maze Runner, Stratum, Jon Snow and Indigo Desert. Trainer Paddy Twomey has made three significant entries with Earl of Tyrone, Rosscarbery and Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby third, French Claim.

Benaud, Cleveland, Gear Up, Master of Reality, Shoshone Warrior, Patrick Sarsfield, Raise You, Sussex and Temple of Artemis are among Joseph O’Brien’s entries, while his father Aidan has entered Anchorage, Wordsworth and Waterville.

Other notable entries include Pied Piper, Wordsworth, Harry’s Legacy, Manu Et Corde, Shanroe, Brazil, Dutch Schultz, Falcon Eight, Lunar Power, Run for Oscar,  Dame Rapide, Ever Present, Hallowed Star, La Hacienda, and Yaxeni.

British based trainers are also well represented with entries including Aaddeey trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, the Richard Hughes trained Calling The Wind, John Leeper trained by Ed Dunlop, Inchicore trained by Alan King and the Nigel Twiston Davies trained Earlofthecotswolds, while Charlie and Mark Johnston have three entries with Thunderous, Golden Fame and Themaxwecan.

The Friends of the Curragh Irish Cesarewitch takes place as the feature race on day 2 of the Autumn Festival of Racing, which also features the Goffs Million and Alan Smurfit Memorial Beresford Stakes on Day 1, Saturday 24th September. A festival atmosphere will be guaranteed throughout the weekend with the racecourse transformed into a foodie heaven with racegoers having the opportunity to sample a “Taste of Kildare” featuring some of the best food in the county.
