Jebel Ali Racecourse and Stables Anglesey Stakes (Group 3)

The Anglesey Stakes was first run in 1829 and it has been staged at the Curragh since its inception. Since 1971 it has held Group 3 status and since 1997 it switched from a late August slot to its current position on Irish Oaks weekend. Over the last 20 years six winners of the race have gone to win at Group 1 level later that season – Johannesburg (2001), One Cool Cat (2003), Oratorio (2004), Myboycharlie (2007), Bushranger (2008) and Dick Whittington (2014)

International Stakes (Group 3)

Originally held in the Phoenix Park and run as the Whitehall Stakes, this race transferred to the Curragh in 1991. At various points it has been run over a mile and also nine furlongs but since 2010 it has been staged over its current distance of ten furlongs. At one time the race held Group 2 status but it has been run as a Group 3 since 2004. Two of the last three winners of the race have gone on to enjoy notable success in Australia with the 2018 scorer Yucatan scoring at Group 2 level in the Southern Hemisphere while the 2017 scorer Johannes Vermeer was beaten just half a length in that year’s Melbourne Cup. Between them Aidan O’Brien and Dermot Weld have dominated this race in recent times and Ralph Beckett is the only other trainer to have won this race since 2008
