  • Men – you do not have to wear ties, and jackets are not compulsory but smart casual is good and is the norm on most days
  • Ladies – Dress accordingly for the occasion and the weather, you are not going to a wedding or a night club, Don’t have your skirt too short, heels you can’t walk in and too much flesh on display – leave a little to the imagination and Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.

Below are some ideas on how to stand out as well as some websites & facebook pages to help you achieve that fabulous race day look and to keep you abreast of the latest trends along with the dates for all our ladies days in 2015 so you can pop them in your diary.

Solid Colours

Loud and proud colour combinations make for a dynamic, confident look.

Feel free to mix it up with another color or be bold and stay true to your chosen colour from head to toe!  Accent with accessories of course!!

print

Modern Prints

This is a fun trend to go with no matter what the occasion. Mixing up abstracts with colors can create a bold fun look that will have heads turning everywhere you walk.

Pair a print skirt with a solid top, or go big and mix two prints together! These types of prints can give you free reign in your millinery choice. You can pair your outfit with something totally different than what you would normally wear and it will all flow together! This type of outfit shows you as the fashionista you truly are!  Shows you can take a risk…and still look fabulous!

monochrome

Monochrome

Black and white may be the staple for the Belmont Stakes in New York but there is no reason why a little New York can’t be brought to the Curragh.

Play with separates or prints to get the monochrome trend. A little black dress with bold accessories is so classy. Want to try something different? Try a monochrome jumpsuit! Pair with a bold red lip and small clutch and you look like you are ready for the Red Carpet!

accessories

Accessories

Accessorizing is a must and it’s a great way to bring your personality in to your outfit from shoes to hats to bags.

One good tip to remember is that your accessories don’t have to be big and flamboyant sometimes less is more.  Really it’s all about complementing the outfit and getting that polished look – it’s the combination of the whole look and the fact that you should feel comfortable wearing it.

menwear

And for the Guys

Here at the Curragh we don’t have a strict dress code but we cannot tell you enough how good you guys look in a suit!!  Spend a day at the races in a suit and you’ll notice a big rise in the attention you’ll get from the ladies. There are so many different styles and types, it’s impossible not to be able to find one that makes you look great and don’t be afraid to depart from the classic Grey/Black/Navy –  try a little colour!

So what to wear with your suit, well this is where you can just let loose and have fun!  There are so many stunning options for a guy when it comes to shirts and ties so don’t be afraid to just explode. You can keep it simple with a block coloured shirt and then let the tie say something about you by making it a bold pattern or you can mix up abstracts with colors to make you stand out in the crowd.

Regardless of your trend choice, make sure you have fun with your outfit and have fun at the races!!! Happy Racing!
