Tarfasha hopes to land 3rd Irish Oaks for Dermot Weld

11 fillies go to post in tomorrow’s Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh including Epsom Oaks runner up Tarfasha, who will attempt to give trainer Dermot Weld his first win in the Group 1 Classic since Dance Design in 1996 (he also trained Blue Wind to win the race in 1981).
The daughter of Teofilo, who carries the colours of owner Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will face stiff competition from Volume trained in Britain by Luca Cumani, who finished third at Epsom. Etihad Airways Irish 1000 Guineas winner Marvellous and recent Ribblesdale Stakes winner Bracelet are among a strong team who will represent Aidan O’Brien, while the Richard Hannon trained Lustrous and Very Often trained by Dermot Weld are other notable entries.
Darwin heads the 8 runners in the Michael Murphy Home Furnishing Minstrel Stakes (Group 3), while Toscanini, Newsletter and Dick Wittington are among the six runners in the Jebel Ali Racecourse & Stables Anglesey Stakes, also taking place tomorrow.

The Kilboy Estate Stakes is the feature of a 7 race programme on Sunday with the John Oxx trained My Titania and the Sir Michael Stoute trained Mango Diva among the top class field of 7 runners in the Group 2 contest. A competitive field of 16 runners in the 100,000 euro Rockingham Handicap features a strong British trained team which includes the Ollie Stevens Green Door, while other notable overseas entries include Caspian Prince and Whozthecat
