Montefeltro wins Tote Super Trifecta Irish Cesarewitch

October 13, 2013

MONTEFELTRO landed the big race at the Curragh this afternoon, with North Yorkshire trainer Brian Ellison seeing off a strong home team to win the Tote Super Trifecta Cesarewitch with his five-year-old.
Ridden by young Robert Tart, Montefeltro was securing the fourth win of his career but this was by far his most lucrative. Well supported in the betting, he was sent off at 8-1 and survived a stewards inquiry to land the spoils.

Earlier on the card record-breaking jockey Joseph O’Brien continued his march towards back-to-back championships with a double at Headquarters. First he rode Century to impressively win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden, and later he landed one of the Listed races when Heirloom stayed on under a strong ride from O’Brien to take the Listed Join Go Racing In Kildare 2014 Finale Stakes. Both horses are trained by Joseph’s father, Aidan.
