Lorraine O’Sullivan from Limerick Wins Most Stylish Lady at the 150th Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby

Press release: Saturday, 27th June 2015: Lorraine O’Sullivan from Dooradoyle in Co. Limerick was announced as the Most Stylish Lady at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby this afternoon. Lorraine was wearing a beautiful dress by Philip Armstrong, a Lulu Guinness bag, Kurt Geiger shoes and a hand crafted headpiece she finished this morning. Lorraine was chosen as the overall winner by a judging panel led by TV Presenter Amanda Byram, Breeda McLoughlin representing Dubai Duty Free, Jody Wainwright representing Boodles, IMAGE Magazine Editor In Chief Melanie Morris and Fashion Editor, Irish Independent, Bairbre Power.

Lorraine walked away with a coveted prize worth almost €20,000. She will enjoy a holiday of a lifetime to Dubai, courtesy of Dubai Duty Free and spend five glorious night at the retail operator’s 5 Star Hotel, The Jumeirah Creekside as well as €1,000 to spend and return flights. Also included in this amazing prize is an elegant Boodles 18 carat white gold and diamond pendant valued at €5,000 plus an overnight stay at the luxurious Marker Hotel in Dublin. The five runner’s up received goodie bags from The Marker Hotel.

Commenting on her win, Lorraine said “I’m absolutely thrilled to be chosen as the Most Stylish Lady at The Curragh. The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby is always a wonderful weekend but this has really made my day! I cannot wait to book my holiday to Dubai, wear my stunning new Boodles necklace and check in to The Marker hotel on my return!”

On picking a winner Amanda Byram said “The style set were certainly out in force today at The Curragh! It was brilliant to see so many ladies wearing Irish designers. The judges and I were looking for someone with a unique sense of style and I think we found it in Lorraine’s look. Not surprisingly, competition was high to win this coveted prize, but we all agreed Lorraine had the edge.”

To mark the 150th running of Ireland’s most prestigious and iconic race, legendary crooner Bing Crosby’s daughter Mary flew in from the U.S for the event and joined the crowd in singing ‘When Irish Eyes are Smiling’, following in the footsteps of her father who spontaneously broke into song after the success of his horse Meadow Court in 1965. Renowned Irish Soprano Celine Byrne also performed the new Irish Derby anthem called “Wind of Glory” to a crowd of over 25,000 people.

Racegoers also enjoyed ‘A Taste of Kildare’ in the beautifully designed Food Paddock area. With giant screens, guests saw all the action from the track while dining on gourmet food and refreshments from local restaurants, suppliers and homemade artisan producers. Popular band “Spring Break” played classic hits from the 80s and guests were treated to a festival atmosphere with live performances throughout the day.

Famous faces at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Pavilion reception hosted by Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free, Colm McLoughlin together with his wife Breeda, included rugby stars Ian Madigan and Robbie Henshaw, Tracy Piggot, Celia Holman-Lee, Oscar nominated Director Jim Sheridan, Ivan Yates, Anne Doyle, Jane Given and Hector Ó hEochagáin.
