John Sisk & Son and The Curragh give local schools early Christmas Present
December 20, 2017
The Curragh Racecourse in conjunction with John Sisk and Son delivered early Christmas presents to the boys and girls from the Curragh Camp National Schools with a variety of wooden toys, built by staff and craftsmen of Sisk, the main contractor of the Curragh redevelopment project.
Derek McGrath, CEO The Curragh Racecourse commented:
“We are very pleased to jointly support this initiative which benefits young children in the locality and hope that this will become a tradition for us in order to continue to support projects in our local community long into the future”.
Cathal Whiriskey, Contracts Manager, Sisk
“The John Sisk & Son Christmas Toy Project is a longstanding tradition that has gone from strength to strength over the past 40 years. The toys are hand made by our apprentice carpenters and joiners, utilising the skills taught to them at our training centre in Dublin under the supervision of our Training Centre Manager, Mr Dave Tracey. The toys are donated to deserving causes all around Ireland, the UK and further afield. This is our way of giving something back to the communities that have supported us throughout the year.”
The redevelopment of the Curragh is on schedule to be full completed by early 2019 and significant progress has been made on the busy construction site which will have over 300 employed on site at it’s peak.
The redevelopment will create a world-class stadium that has been benchmarked against the best racecourses and sporting venues in the world and will ensure that everyone connected with the racing industry from owners, trainers, jockeys stable staff and the public will have modern, state-of-the-art facilities.
